When travel trade partners across West Africa had inconsistent access to desktop learning platforms but nearly universal smartphone usage, the answer wasn't a better LMS. It was WhatsApp.
Delta's EMEAI trade communications program served B2T (business-to-trade) partners — travel agents and booking coordinators across Sub-Saharan Africa who sold Delta routes. Platform access was inconsistent; email open rates were declining; traditional eLearning pathways weren't reaching this audience. The audience, however, was universally active on WhatsApp.
Delta needed a scalable, low-friction channel to keep West African trade partners current on product updates, route changes, and selling strategies — without requiring desktop platform access or formal LMS enrollment. Existing channels weren't reaching agents at the moment where product knowledge translated to booking behavior.
Led and Administered. Served as Program Coordinator and Super Administrator for the pilot. Designed the broadcast channel structure, managed opt-in enrollment, created product update content adapted for mobile delivery, and built the replication model for East Africa scale.
Designed one-way broadcast channels in WhatsApp Business — ensuring program compliance, data privacy, and trade partner control while maintaining Delta brand standards in content delivery.
Adapted product knowledge content for WhatsApp delivery constraints: short-form text, embedded media, concise call-to-action framing. Content designed for consumption between client interactions.
Piloted in two distinct markets with different selling contexts, agent demographics, and booking behaviors — using market-specific onboarding language and content sequencing.
Built the operational and content architecture for East Africa expansion, documenting channel structure, enrollment logic, and content cadence for handoff and scale.

The insight this program reinforced: the best learning intervention meets people in their existing workflow, not the one you design for them. Travel agents weren't logging into Delta University between client conversations — but they were checking WhatsApp. Designing for the context they're actually in, not the one you wish they used, is the whole game.
